Very rare and highly recommended listings
Compared to Europe and the United States, there are not many independent listings registered on AIRBNB in Japan, and most of them are concentrated in urban areas in the form of apartments in the form of 1DK, especially in non-major metropolitan areas and near natural tourist attractions.
Akita Kakunodate itself is an important place for traditional buildings, especially the maple maple trees and ginkgo biloba in the autumn of samurai residences, and there are Lake Tazawa, Baobi Valley, Akita Inland Railway... etc., which is very suitable for roaming for three to five nights.
The house is located at the center of Samurai Mansion Street, the second floor is made of black wood, which is close to the surrounding traditional buildings, and tourists often mistake it for a samurai residence, gathering outside to take pictures, and there is also Tiger Eagle Shrine on the grounds, and Japan tourists will also enter the premises to take photos and explain.
The owner of the house is an artist, who built it on his own fifteen years ago, and I heard that he once ran a café. The interior is full of the owner's personal collection, which is generously displayed for the tenants, including many glass paintings, ceramic cats, traditional paintings, ancient gramophones, hand-cranked telephones... etc., especially a large number of CDs available for playback, and the owner also provides a lot of snacks and drinks, which is very considerate.
The large dining room on the first floor mainly has a dining table for six people with 2 gas heaters, the spacious bedroom with two Western-style single beds is equipped with a wall-mounted air conditioner, the double sink kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, hot water bottle, pots and pans, the separate bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, the bath room is a laundry room, a separate toilet, the second floor is mainly a large Japanese-style tatami mat for four people, the living room has a sofa table and chairs, and the windows can see the maple trees planted on the site and tourists stopping on the street, which is very suitable for afternoon tea here.
There is a large open space on the premises, you can park about 3 cars by car, there is also a lush and beautiful garden, it is very easy to get in and out, it is very quiet without tourists in the early morning and after night, so you have to walk around Samurai Mansion Street, use it before 10 am and after 3 pm, it is easy to take beautiful photos of the entire street to yourself.
However, the noise of wooden houses and the overflow of collectibles are not suitable for families with active children and lively and noisy young people.
The owner and his wife are very polite and hospitable, responding immediately to any questions, the owner will personally come to open the door when checking in, greet the guests with detailed explanations, and personally come to see them off when checking out, which is the only time I have encountered since my self-guided trip.
This property was found on stayjapan.com, and the properties on the platform are also very exquisite and beautiful, so I recommend it to everyone.
