The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and decorated with lots of intriguing and lovely antiques, paintings, tiling, and woodwork. It is clear that this is a place with enormous amounts of care and love poured into every detail and it was a real joy to explore the space and stay there. But even better were the warm and welcoming owners of the house, who took the time to explain all of its features to use and encouraged us to use everything from the kitchen to the CD player (with surround sound). They also gave us beautiful maps of the area, explained the best tourist attractions and helped us check whether there was a table available at a local restaurant. They went above and beyond by guiding us there in their car as well. Truly a fantastic stay, we were disappointed to leave after only one night.

Seasonal landscapes and Taisho-roman style building
It is a great location to fully enjoy Kakunodate.
The first floor has a living room, bath, kitchen, toilet, and 1 Western-style room (2 single beds), and the 2nd floor has 2 Japanese-style rooms (4 futons). It can accommodate up to 6 people. From any room, the drooping cherry blossoms, dark green, and autumn leaves look beautiful.
In addition, it is a 10-minute walk to the hot spring "Kakudate Onsen" Convenience stores and restaurants are also nearby.
With the theme of mice and cats, the Taisho Roman-style building is meticulous in detail and will delight guests.

Thank you for your many compliments. You were very friendly and cute, just like your own daughters. One of the two spoke fluent Japanese, which was very helpful. Charming house (museum type)
We envoyed very much staying in this beautifull house. The owners were so nice to us; They helped us in many ways. The house is right in the middle of the samouraï houses district. So you have to be aware that during the day it is not a quiet place but at night it is quite calm. The house is full of nice and funny objects, a well designed bathroom, good natural light and many many lamps ( maybe not ideal for young energetic children). Thank you for the stay; it was really fun and the owners are specially welcoming people.

Thank you for your high evaluation and nice comments. I'm really grateful for pointing out the fried return and the butter knife. It was the first time we pointed it out that we had been staying in a private house for 4 years. The antique collection at the inn is never expensive, so even small children are welcome. It's a bit disappointing if they deliberately destroyed it. Please travel all over Japan and make a lot of wonderful memories. Kakunodate is very beautiful with drooping cherry blossoms in spring and fresh green in summer. Please visit us again someday. Brother was gentlemanly, calm, and very smart, and Sister was a powerful、good person. You were very impressive. Thank you very much.

手のかかった調度と芸術品に囲まれて暮らす幸せ
とにかく細かいところまで目が行き届いていて、大正レトロの調度品や置物などあれだけあってもホコリ一つなく清潔、かつ美しいタイル張り装飾や芸術品が至る所にあって、家の中にいても飽きることがない。調理道具も含めて何でも揃っていて、一泊ではもったいなかった。家は丹精されたバラの木に囲まれ（残念ながら花の季節ではありませんでした）庭の草花も美しい。桜の季節にはあの素敵な２階から花見ができたら最高だ。

Fantastic house in a great location
We stayed in this beautiful hand-built wooden house for two nights and enjoyed both the house and Kakunodate. The house is full of interesting features and a collection or objects and paintings, mostly themed on cats and mice. The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and super helpful, especially with trying to find a vegetarian restaurant. Could not have asked for a better house and location, highly recommended.
