Among its routes, the Nakahechi – the official pilgrimage road for the "Kumano Gyoko," repeated over 100 times by the imperial family and nobles –
quietly stands "Kumano Kodo Kominka-ryo HAGI."

The owner, captivated by the Kumano Kodo, undertook a major renovation of this traditional kominka and opened the guesthouse.
The rooms retain a nostalgic atmosphere,
while the bathrooms have been fully updated with modern facilities. You'll enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We offer the healing hot springs of Hongu Onsen, beloved since ancient times, hidden secret baths known only to those in the know,
and meals featuring fresh local vegetables and meat.

【Dinner】
Authentic BBQ cooked slowly over binchotan charcoal on a shichirin grill.
Featuring fresh local vegetables from Kumano, Wagyu beef, and fresh seafood delivered directly from the Toyosu Market (formerly Tsukiji Market), where the owner worked until 2018. A truly generous and memorable spread.

【Breakfast】
A single-plate breakfast prepared with fresh local ingredients.

【Lunch (Optional)】
Sandwich bento boxes (¥800 tax included) are available for guests planning to hike the Kumano Kodo the following day.

About the Area

The guesthouse is located along the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route, making it an ideal base for walking the ancient pilgrimage trail.
Famous oji shrines such as Gyuba Doji, Chikatsuyu Oji, Hisohara Oji, and Tsugizakura Oji are scattered within 5 km.
A power spot pilgrimage tour of the Kumano Sanzan (Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha) is also highly recommended.

【Highlights】
Within a 10-minute walk, you'll find iconic Kumano Kodo landmarks: Nonaka-no-Hitokatasugi, Nonaka-no-Shimizu, Hidehira Sakura, and Toga-no-Ki Chaya tea house.

【Hot Springs & Hidden Baths】
The Kumano Hongu Onsen area is home to famous hot springs beloved since ancient times as "waters of healing and rebirth."
・Yunomine Onsen: Known as Japan's oldest hot spring with 1,800 years of history. Famous for the UNESCO World Heritage-listed "Tsuboyu" bath.
・Kawayu Onsen: A unique hot spring where guests can dig their own private open-air bath in the riverbed.
・Watarase Onsen: Popular for its spacious open-air baths with breathtaking views.

Hidden hot springs known only to those in the know can also be found deeper in the Kumano area. Please ask the owner for details.
