-About BIO Lodge-
The satoyama lifestyle is a traditional japanese style of living in harmony with nature, which is a sustainable and recycling-oriented lifestyle.
To some people it may seem like a difficult lifestyle but we want to show you that it is not so difficult and is very enjoyable. We want people to experience this sustainable lifestyle that is aligned with nature.
With this in mind, we built the lodge ourselves over a period of two years, using environmentally friendly materials and traditional construction methods.
-Environmentally friendly architecture-
We have mainly used materials that have been used traditionally in the area for a long time, as they are the best for the conditions in this location.
The warmth of the interior is created by using Tenryu cedar, one of Japan's most beautiful forest trees.
The facade is made of burnt cedar planks using recycled wood.
The white plaster walls are mixed with straw and the wooden window frames are tarnished with a black persimmon tannin coating.
The house is not hermetically sealed, the air can somewhat pass through the natural materials and naturally regulate itself in different climates. Just like how people adjust their layers of clothing according to the temperature.
-Natural energy-
Energy during the stay is generated by solar panels, and water is drawn from the mountains.
Bath water is heated by a boiler and stove using wood collected on the property and in the community.
This property is completely off-grid and does not rely on any outside energy source.
Guest access
[Guest Entry Area]
The property is carved out of the slope of a mountain and is 3,000 tsubo (9917.355 square meters).
In addition to the lodge, there are several buildings on the property, including the host's residence and an old private house under renovation.
You are free to enter and leave the lodge and outdoor spaces, but please refrain from entering the tool shed and spaces that are being worked on, as they contain hazards.
Please feel free to stroll around the decks, bamboo groves, plum trees, orchards and fields.
➤ Transportation
There is no public transportation access, so please come by car. There is space for 4 cars to be parked.
(If you need a ride to and from the train station, please contact us.)
➤Please note
Pets are not allowed in the rooms, but may be leashed outside in the covered outdoor area.
Smoking is not permitted in the rooms (including the terrace). Smoking (including heated cigarettes and electronic cigarettes), cigarette butts, vomiting, and other extreme soiling in the guest rooms are prohibited,
In the case of extreme soiling of linens, such as vomiting etc, a cleaning fee of ¥20,000 - ¥30,000 will be charged, as well as a damage compensation fee for the guest room.
In the event of significant damage to furniture and fixtures, the guest will be required to pay for the damage.
Because the bio lodge is in the mountains surrounded by nature, there are many insects, especially during the warmer months.
If you do not leave windows and doors open, it is unlikely that any insects will come inside the lodge, but we cannot guarantee that you will not encounter one.
We value living in harmony with the creatures of the mountain, so we do not kill them unnecessarily.
If you cannot handle insects, your stay may be a little difficult.
We have a cat but she is kept outdoors. Please do not let her in the lodge.
Please keep this in mind if you have cat allergies.
