Regenswald is a guesthouse carefully renovated by our furniture workshop, O’KEEFFE FURNITURE, transforming a 107-year-old traditional house once home to a gunsmith into a comfortable, unique space. The interiors feature original furniture and details restored with craftsmanship, blending traditional charm with modern comfort.
Nestled in a quiet setting with a spacious garden separated from surrounding homes, you can enjoy the relaxed pace of the countryside. Depending on the season, you can harvest watercress or bamboo shoots in the garden. For those interested, we can also arrange visits to nearby farms for figs, blueberries, grapes, olives, and more.
This place is ideal for guests seeking a relaxing long-term stay, artists interested in furniture, woodworking, or design, and families looking for a tranquil retreat. Guests have access to part of the house, while the hosts live on-site with their child.
Children and Bedding
Children of any age can stay free if sharing the same futon with adults. If a separate futon is needed, it will be provided for an additional fee.
Train arrivals: Complimentary shuttle service is available to Yaizu Station (up to 4 passengers).

Accommodations
We offer two Japanese-style rooms accommodating up to 5 sets of futons. Bedding includes Kyoto Kanamatsu down comforters and cotton sheets. Bedrooms are air-conditioned, and a wood-burning stove with additional heating ensures a cozy stay even in winter. Watching the flames creates a warm, relaxing atmosphere.
The shared kitchen includes a guest-only refrigerator and sink, suitable for self-catering and longer stays. It is equipped with antique and artisan pottery as well as wooden tableware. Complimentary breakfast items include bread, yogurt, eggs, and basic seasonings. Wi-Fi is available.
Pets are welcome in the entrance and living room (please avoid tatami rooms to protect flooring and futons).
A private open-air bath for guests is under construction and will be a special feature upon completion.
The traditional house showcases impressive triple beams and carefully selected details, including sliding doors and lighting. On sunny days, relax on the veranda or stroll in the garden. Tables and chairs can be set up in the garden on request, where seasonal flowers, birdsong, and gentle winds create a peaceful setting.
