　Amami Oshima Island, commonly called "the island closest to heaven," is a paradise on earth blessed with a beautiful climate and scenery.

　Our "Nakamura-so" is located in Yamato Village in the northwest part of Amami Oshima Island, about 20 km away from the city.
　It is a small village with a population of only about 1,500, but it has a unique culture influenced by Satsuma and Ryukyu. It also has a forest-rich ecosystem that is listed as a World Heritage Site.

　Kuninao Beach is also a spawning ground for sea turtles.
　They come here at night from May to July and lay their eggs on the beach.
　At this time of the year, red covers are placed on the streetlights to avoid irritating the sea turtles.

　　AINOKO is a traditional wooden boat of Amami Oshima.
