Experience rural life in a town located on the 31st-degree latitude axis.
The inn and Obi Handloom Workshop Jinguji is located in Minamiosumi Town, which is located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu Island, Cape Sata.
My husband, who is from Kyoto, and I, a local, have long been involved in providing homestays for international students, overnight stays for junior and senior high school students visiting from the city, and boarding houses for students attending local high schools.
I decided to use this experience to start accepting general customers and opened my business in 2018.
A tour and experience at the Nishijin weaving workshop
With the principle of "Obi should not be heavy," a husband and wife couple lovingly hand-weave Nishijin-ori obi, which in Kyoto is made by dividing labor. The patterns of her works reflect the sightseeing spots and landscapes of Minamiosumi Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Sakurajima.
While listening to the rhythmic sound of the loom in the workshop, why don't you experience Japanese culture with your eyes, hands, ears, and heart?
By moving your own hands, you will realize how Nishijin textiles are made with a variety of techniques.
Why don't you go back in time to the good old days of Japan and become a craftsman of Nishijin weaving to feel Japanese culture?
If you are interested in learning how to make Nishijin textiles, you are welcome to come and visit us.
