Cottage Rive Gauche - Private Riverside Cottage with Natural Hot Spring

Nothing but the sound of the river and the wind through the trees. Tucked along the Asaseishi River at the foot of Mt. Hakkoda, Cottage Rive Gauche is a private, whole-house retreat in Aomori's Kuroishi hot spring district. From the windows and garden: the river, the mountains, and a little red bridge — and a natural hot spring you can slip into any time you like.

Due to our natural surroundings, insects may occasionally enter the rooms depending on the season. Stink bugs are particularly common in the spring and fall. While we make every effort to control them, it is difficult to prevent their presence entirely. Please be aware of this before making your reservation (as a general rule, we cannot issue refunds due to the presence of insects).

# The whole place is yours
The heart of this cottage is its private natural hot spring — long known locally as a “beauty bath.” The bath fits three to four people and has two showers, and because the entire house is yours, you can soak whenever you wish, 24 hours a day.

The airy, two-story cottage sleeps up to 8 guests.
Four air-conditioned bedrooms (two rooms with one semi-double bed each; one room with two semi-double beds; one Japanese-style room with four futons)

Upstairs open-plan living/dining/kitchen — dining for four, a sofa for five, air-conditioned
Kitchen with rice cooker, microwave, frying pan, pots, knives and basic cookware, plus tableware, glasses and an electric kettle (please bring your own seasonings and ingredients)

Free Wi-Fi and a quiet back garden overlooking the river

The rate is the same for up to 3 guests; from the 4th guest onward an additional charge applies per person. Children aged 2 and over are charged as adults; infants under 1 stay free (no bedding provided).


# Getting here
This is a peaceful spot cradled by nature. Public transport is limited, so we recommend renting a car — and the reward is a place that feels a world away from everyday life.

# Soak, then wander
The hot spring is only the beginning. Across the river lies Itadome Onsen, and Nuruyu Onsen is a 10-minute walk away — spend a day hopping between the celebrated baths of the Kuroishi hot spring district. In autumn, the famous maple valley of Nakano Momijiyama is a 15-minute walk, with color reaching right to your windows. In winter, the cottage is a perfect ski base, close to Hakkoda, Owani, Aomori Spring and Appi Kogen resorts.

# House rules
- Smoking is prohibited inside the building. Please smoke outdoors. Please bring your own portable ashtray.
- Please take your cigarette butts home with you; do not dispose of them in the facility’s trash cans.
- Open flames, such as barbecues and bonfires, are not permitted on the premises.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Access is restricted to guests with a reservation only.
- Regardless of the length of your stay, we provide one bath towel and one face towel per guest. We are unable to provide additional towels.
