For once, the world outside can wait.
Birdsong fills the air. A breeze moves through the cedar trees. This is Largo — a farmhouse retreat tucked deep in the mountains of Nishi Awa, Tokushima, a region recognized as a UN FAO World Agricultural Heritage site.
Our philosophy is simple: slow down and live at nature's pace. One night here has a way of clearing your mind and sending you back into the world with fresh eyes.
About Largo
Largo is a homestay. You'll share the house with your host family under the same roof — and that's the heart of what makes this place special. Warm conversation, a home-cooked meal shared at the same table, stories over herb tea in the evening. It's not a private villa rental, but what you gain instead is something far harder to find: a genuine glimpse into mountain life in rural Japan.

# Experiences & Activities
At Largo, every experience connects food, fragrance, and the forest.
Pick herbs by hand from the garden and brew your own tea while it's still fresh. Extract plant essential oils using a traditional distillation method. Forage wild mountain vegetables in the morning and watch them become part of your dinner that evening. These aren't tourist activities — they're the rhythms of daily life here, shared with you.
All experiences are reservation-based (book at least 3 days before check-in via the Options section).
- Original herbal tea blending: Harvest fresh herbs from the garden, blend your own unique mix, and take a package home as a souvenir. (Approx. 1 hour)
- Plant distillation — "Drops of Scent": Extract your own essential oil using a traditional still. You take home the essential oil and floral water you produce. (2+ guests required; approx. 2.5 hours)
- Aroma & herb workshop: Craft your own solid perfume and make herb-infused sweets. (1–2 hours)
- Forest shrine tour: A quiet walk to the local shrine that has watched over this mountain community for generations.
※Outdoor experiences may be cancelled in heavy rain. One experience per single-night stay; two or more experiences require a 2-night minimum (feel free to ask before booking).
# Dining
A table that tells the seasons. Dinner at Largo is a love letter to the mountains. Your host prepares home-style Japanese dishes rooted in local tradition — seasonal mountain vegetables, wild-foraged ingredients, and recipes passed down through generations. No two meals are exactly alike.
