Northern Lake Biwa Private KURA Stay Kakurekura

In a small village in the northern Lake Biwa area, surrounded by rice fields and mountains, you’ll find Kakurekura.
A kura is a traditional Japanese storehouse. For more than 70 years, this one was used for storage. Today, it is a private stay for just one group at a time.

Inside, more than 70 years of time have been preserved. Outside, the countryside changes with the seasons—from water-filled rice fields in spring to green summer fields, golden rice in autumn, and sometimes snow in winter.

There is no TV, and shops are not nearby. Instead, you can look out over the rice fields from the hinoki cypress bath, have coffee on the terrace, or simply enjoy the quiet countryside.

Depending on the season and weather, you may enjoy a BBQ, bonfire, or handheld fireworks. If the timing is right, you might also join in with everyday countryside work—planting rice, harvesting vegetables, or splitting firewood.

There is no need to fill your stay with plans.
Here, you may notice a different rhythm from everyday life.
