Jokoenmanji is a 1250 years old temple with a rich history, located in Osaka Prefecture, minutes away from Osaka city’s downtown area. It’s an important temple, known especially for conducting the Mizuko Kuyo memorial service and having been used as family temple by the shogun Ashikaga and the famous commander Suita.

●Description
Jokoenmanji is a magnificent temple in the heart of the city, a 5 minutes’ walk away from the JR Suita and Hankyu Suita stations.
Jokoenmanji welcomes travelling pilgrims, students on a field or school trip, martial arts practitioners and anyone interested in discovering life in a temple.
We provide a 90m² room (on the 3rd floor) for your stay. It’s especially convenient for people who need a large room to practice with their music group or association, or people on a group trip with their colleagues or classmates.

1 night 2 meals option available for ¥4,500/person for groups of 10 people and more.

□Bath
・You can use the temple’s bathtub from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
　Groups of 5 or more, thank you to pay ¥300/person (payment on-the-spot).
・There are public bath houses nearby where you can go as well:
　→ ”Midori-yu”, public bath house: 8 minutes’ walk
　→ ”Gokuraku-yu”, Super Sento (larger type of bath house): 15 minutes on foot, 10 minutes by 　car

●Activities and Experiences

1⃣ Temple yoga 　
We invite everyone to try Temple yoga.
It’s an authentic yoga practice, taught by a yoga instructor.

Yoga is great not only to increase your flexibility or lose weight, it also helps increase your concentration and your ability to improve and heal yourself.
The lesson is usually followed by a sermon, a meditation session etc.

We want Jokoenmanji temple to be a place of exchange, self-improvement and gratitude.

　・Date: Every 1st Friday of the month (with activities after the class)

　・Time: From 8:00PM to 10:00PM on the 1st Friday
　　　　 From 8:00PM to 9:30PM on the 3rd Friday
　・Where: the Jizo-do hall of Jokoenmanji Temple
　・What to bring: yoga mat (we can lend you one if needed), rosary (if you have one), towel, 　　comfortable clothing, water
　・Price: ¥1,100/person

　・Details: (Sermon, events are available on the 1st Friday only)
Religious service: thank Buddha for its protection
Yoga: 75 minutes lesson, stretches to relax and improve your mind-body connection
Sermon, events: for 15 to 30 minutes after yoga practice an activity is organised, like spiritual talks (given the by monks), Shomyo (buddhist ritual chant), Ajikan meditation, a “monk fashion show” and more.
　　　　　
2⃣ Sutra-writing
Hand-copy the 266 characters of the Heart Sutra, a sutra that Buddha is believed to have used to teach the way to the Ideal World.
Sutra-writing may be the opportunity for you to focus on yourself again.
All the copies of our guests are put up in the main hall for praying afterward.
When everyone is done writing, we usually enjoy a conversation with everyone over some cake and tea.

→ Chuo-Kanjo Road R2 (中央環状線) in direction of Ikeda (池田) ～ Shin-Midosuji Road R423 (新御堂筋) in direction of Osaka (大阪) ～ Nai-Kanjo Road R479 (内環状線) in direction of Osaka
・30 minutes from the Ibaraki (茨木) interchange on the Meishin expressway
→ Sangyo Road (産業道路) in direction of Osaka and Suita
・25 minutes from the Toyonaka (豊中) interchange on the Meishin expressway
→ Airport line in direction of Ikeda ～ Nai-Kanjo Road R479 in direction of Esaka (江坂)
・15 minutes from the Johoku (城北) interchange on the Hanshin expressway
→ Turn right immediately after the Sugahara Shiroki Tao bridge (菅原城北大橋, ¥100 charge) and turn left on the Nai-Kanjo Road R479.
