Asayake is a small, intimate kominka (traditional Japanese farmhouse) nestled in a quiet satoyama village in Bungo-Ono City, Oita — available exclusively to one group at a time.

A family slowly restored this vacant house to create a space where guests can stay as if they truly live here.

Wake up to birdsong in the morning, watch the mountains glow amber at dusk, and enjoy quiet, peaceful evenings. A wonderful farm stay Japan experience, especially for families traveling with young children.

Breakfast and dinner are prepared in the main house kitchen, but the owner's family stays in a separate building — so the bath and toilet are exclusively for guests.

Hold your own private concert surrounded by the satoyama forest.

Futons, a baby bath, and other essentials are available for infants and young children.
We are a couple in our 30s with a 2-year-old son.

About the Area

Bungo-Ono City, Oita Prefecture is a satoyama region designated as a Japan Geopark, shaped by the ancient volcanic activity of Mt. Aso. The area offers dramatic natural scenery and a variety of sightseeing spots.

◆ Harajiri Falls
Known as the "Niagara of the Orient." This spectacular waterfall stretches 120m wide and 20m high, appearing suddenly amidst peaceful pastoral scenery.

◆ Inakako Underwater Cave
Japan's largest underwater cave — explore approximately 350m of mystical caverns.

A historic waterfall said to have been visited by the legendary painter Sesshu. It represents the natural beauty of Bungo-Ono.
