■Togakushi Power Spot
Togakushi is a 40-minute drive. There are many recommended places to visit, such as Okusha Shrine, Chusha Shrine, Houkosha Shrine, Kuzuryusha Shrine, Hinomikosha Shrine, Togakushi Ninja Karakuri Yashiki, Chibikko Ninja Village and Togakushi Shinkouge Onsen!
■Kurohime Highland Cosmos Garden
The Kurohime Cosmos Garden is a very close 10-minute drive away.
The main cosmos season is from September to October, but from spring to summer you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as
lawn cherry blossoms, hydrangeas and dahlias.
In winter, the area is also open as a ski resort, so you can ski
in Suginohara and then head to Kurohime the next day! It's
also a good idea to go skiing in Kurohime the day after
skiing in Suginohara.
■Obuse, the town of chestnuts, Hokusai and flowers
Obuse is a 50-minute drive away. Just strolling around the traditional townscape is a lot of fun. There are many long-established, well-known shops dotted around the town,
as well as many museums, including the Hokusai Museum.
■Mt Myoko & Mt Hiuchi of the Hundred Famous Mountains
It is rare to see two Hyakumeizan mountains side by side. It is impossible to conquer both in one day, so it is recommended to stay overnight at the Takatanaike Hutte and conquer them one by one.
■Sasagamine Farm
There are trekking courses at Lake Otomi, the German spruce forest and the Hisako Waterfall.
The Kubiki beef steaks at the Sasagamine Green House are worth eating.
