An old private house and garden over 100 years old, which
has been carefully cared for and preserved as a private residence for generations since the Meiji era, has been restored and
renovated from the water system to the storehouse and main house. The thickness and size of the beams and pillars of the
historical residence are breathtaking.
There is no communication environment and no clocks are
available. Please surrender yourself to the natural flow of time and spend your time as you wish.
The house is a 2-minute walk from Nijozan Station on the
Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line, and is also within sight of the
station for easy access.
There is also a weekend sunny day café, Katsuragi An Tea
House, on the premises. This sweet shop offers Mitarashi
dumplings and matcha green tea to enjoy on weekends when
the weather is fine.

Children aged 0-2 years: free of charge if sleeping with a
parent (without bedding and meals). Children aged 3 years and above to primary school children (with bedding and meals): There is a child charge, so please apply for this under

■Rooms.
There are four sets of futons in two 6-mat rooms.
Toilet and shower rooms are in a separate building on the
premises.
The rooms can be locked.
Meals
Handmade soba noodles are served for dinner.
If you have any requests, please let us know in the message
when you make your reservation.
If you have any dietary requests, such as food allergies or
vegetarian requirements, please make sure to inform us at the time of booking.
Please note that we will not be able to accommodate requests made shortly before your stay.

■Experience.
Sake brewing tour (limited to Jan-Nov. (Limited from January to November. Date and time to be specified).
Your host will take you on a tour of the Kita Sake Brewery.
As the brewery does not brew sake in summer, you will
basically tour the brewery's facilities.
Sake brewing can be observed from November to February.
(However, tours are closed in December.)

◎ Sights in the vicinity.
Nijozan, the trailhead next to Nijozanjo-no-ike, which is a 10-minute walk from Katuragi-an.
Located in the northern part of the Kongo Mountains,
Mt Nijo is a twin-ear peak consisting of the highest peak,
Mt Odake (517 m above sea level),
and Mt Medake (474 m above sea level).
This is a mountain with a rich history, with the ancient temple Taima at the foot of the mountain, the ruins of the main
citadel of Nijozan and Katsuragi Nijo Shrine on the summit of Mt Odake, and good views from the top of both Mt Odake and Mt Medake, with the Kawachi Plain and Yamato Plain in full
view.
The three shrines -
Katsuragi shidoriniimasu Ame no Haikazuchi no Mikoto Shrine,
Katsuragi Nijo Shrine and Kamori Shrine - are located at the trailhead of Mt Nijo
The enshrined Ame no Haikazuchi no Mikoto is said to be the founder of the Yamen clan (Shidorishi). The area where Katsuragi Hermitage is located is said to be the place where the Kamo clan originated, and has long been blessed by the Katsuragi shidoriniimasu Ame no Haikazuchi no Mikoto Shrine

As there are few accommodation facilities in Nara, we have
renovated an old private house that is over 100 years old to
create an inn where you can relax and let time pass you by.
The trailhead for Mt Nijo is close by,
so please use it for mountain climbing.
