Standing quietly in the historic Shinmachi-Dori street of Gojo, Yanaseya offers two privates spaces in two beautiful and elegant traditional townhouses. Relic of the Edo Era, testimony of the past, Yanaseya is a stunning place where time seems to stand still.
Recently renovated to ensure maximum comfort for their guests, the houses have nevertheless kept the charm of old-time Japan, offering visitors to travel back in time for a unique lifestyle experience.

Built in the style of a tea-ceremony house using natural materials and tea houses aesthetics, the elegant house offers a beautiful view on a abundant garden on one side, and on Yoshinogawa River and on the other side.
The 2nd floor overlooks the spectacular mountain range that streches as far as Kumano city, and offers some mysterious landscapes bathed in fog on the morning.

The 1st floor features two Japanese-style bedrooms, a toilet and a bathroom, while the 2nd floor features a living and dining room, a kitchenette, a toilet and a shower room.

Guests are invited to use the kitchen appliances freely but are kindly asked to refrain from cooking meals to prevent accidents. However, there are several restaurants near the house where it is possible to enjoy a delicious meal :

Sightseeing :
Beautiful traditional wooden houses are lined up all along Shinmachi-Dori, the historic merchant street where Yanaseya is located. Scrolling along the street, you can admire and even visit the authentic houses, some of which have been designated as Important Cultural Properties like the former residence of the Kuriyama Family.

An hour car-ride will take you to Koyasan, designated World Heritage in 2014 and famous for its religious history, temples, and Mount Koya.

The incredible Yoshino Mountain known as Japan's best Cherry Blossom spot can be reach in only 30min by car. The site that has also been designated as World Heritage offers a breathtaking view of thousands of cherry trees, that turn a delicate pink at the beginning of spring.

There are many activities to do and places to visit during your stay, since Gojo is ideally located between several towns and villages each more beautiful than the other.
