Kura House owes its character and charm to its large entrance door and roof framework so specific to the architecture of ancient townhouses. The lovely compact home has a generous ceiling height of 3m in the living room, which creates a pleasant open space where guests can relax in peace and quiet.
The 1st floor features a cosy living room and a kitchen, whereas the 2nd floor features a comfortable bedroom, a bathroom and a toilet.

Guests are invited to use the kitchen appliances freely but are kindly asked to refrain from cooking meals to prevent accidents. However, there are several restaurants near the house where it is possible to enjoy a delicious meal:

Gojo Genbei, a refined Japanese gourmet restaurant (vegetarian options available)
L'ami D'enfance ala maison, a French gourmet restaurant established in a beautiful traditional Japanese house
Sightseeing:
Beautiful traditional wooden houses are lined up all along Shinmachi-Dori, the historic merchant street where Yanaseya is located. Scrolling along the street, you can admire and even visit the authentic houses, some of which have been designated as Important Cultural Properties like the former residence of the Kuriyama Family.
An hour car-ride will take you to Koyasan, designated World Heritage in 2014 and famous for its religious history, temples, and Mount Koya.
The incredible Yoshino Mountain known as Japan's best Cherry Blossom spot can be reach in only 30min by car. The site that has also been designated as World Heritage offers a breathtaking view of thousands of cherry trees, that turn a delicate pink at the beginning of spring.
There are many activities to do and places to visit during your stay, since Gojo is ideally located between several towns and villages each more beautiful than the other.
