However, at present, tatami mats and worn-out tatami mats issued by the reconstruction of houses are treated as "industrial waste". This is a great shame. So I got the idea of "tatami house" while I was wondering if there was any way to reuse this.
This is a "tatami house" in the sense of using tatami mats as wall materials rather than laying them on the floor. Tatami tatami mats, as you know, are made of straw, and each one of the countless carpets contains air, although it is only small. Therefore, by using this as a wall material, excellent temperature control and humidification effect can be obtained throughout the year.
In addition, the sound of the room becomes a soft sound that does not bounce off. In addition, even if the time comes to be dismantled in the future, most of the materials will contribute to enriching the soberness by returning to high-quality compost.
In that respect, it has become an eco-friendly building almost perfect. In addition, a mural by Seizo Tajima, one of Japan's leading picture book writers and painters, is painted on the outer wall.
This is the origin of the name of this building. On the hill where the building stands stands, there is a huge art work, "How a Raft Organ", which is a co-production of seizan Tajima and Mr. Galyu Matsumoto (musician and donkey's music host).
Far away, you can see the Asama mountain range. On the other side of the hill is a beautifully well-maintained forest where you can relax and relax.
