This accommodation was introduced on the popular TV program "Potsunto Ikkenya".
Enjoy a relaxing day at Umaya while looking out over the scenery of mountains that changes with the season.
○About this accommodation
Located on the border of Nobeoka City and Takachiho Town, it is a place surround by rich nature.
This accommodation is renovated from a cattle-shed that had not been used. (In Japanese, the word “Umaya” means the cattle-shed.)
This is a two-story building. The first floor, once been a cattle-shed, has been renovated and decorated thoroughly and nicely, furnished with Irori (a traditional Japanese sunken hearth) and wood-burning stove.

You will stay with the owner together in this house.
Dinner and breakfast are included in the room rate.
〇About the meals
Dishes are made with homegrown vegetables and rice.
Dinner also served with Dumpling soup, a specialty of Oita prefecture, and dessert. Oita prefecture→Miyazaki prefecture
The menu varies with seasons. In spring, you can enjoy Shiitake dishes (Japanese mushroom); in autumn and winter, the river fish dishes are always the best choice.
We offer Japanese-style breakfast generally.

〇Measures against COVID-19 infectious disease
All staff are required to do gargling and handwashing thoroughly and indoor space will be ventilated as often as possible.
Guests are also kindly requested to wear masks, wash their hands, gargle, and take temperature checks.

You can enjoy the fluffy sweets made from rice flour, such as steamed bread, pancakes, and pound cakes.
The sweets you made will be served with a marmalade made from Amanatsu (a sweet summer orange).
- Harvesting of seasonal Japanese mushroom & edible mountain vegetables 2,000 yen ~
Harvesting, including Sansai (edible mountain vegetables), bamboo shoots, Shiitake(Japanese mushrooms), persimmons, radishes, and chestnuts, are varying in different seasons.
The activities are subject to season, please contact us for more information.
In addition to the activities listed above, we also offer a variety of experience programs such as making dried persimmons and dried sliced radish or making red bean paste mixed with chestnuts. Please ask for more information when you make a reservation.

- Senjoushiki of Mt. Hiei (20 min by car)
It is designated as the National Scenic Beauty of Japan. This rocky place may reminiscent of a chinses landscape painting.

This roadside station located in the northern part of Nobeoka City.
Local vegetables, fruits, souvenirs, and soft-serve ice cream are sold here.
In addition, events are held in Yochimiya throughout the year.
In spring, there is the New Tea Festival, the Chiyohime Peach Festival.
Hozuki (also called Japanese-later) festival is held in summer. The Jiro Persimmon Festival is in autumn, and the Yamaimo Festival is in winter.

My family loved our stay at Umaya. We enjoyed the amazing food prepared by the host. At night, we fell asleep to the sound of frogs! The host went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! Incredible value!! Best place we have stayed on our trip ❤️
