Machiya Yado Tsuruya - Gaia Resort -

Located in the central area of the Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Murata Town, known as the Little Kyoto of Michinoku Miyagi. The old-style “nuriya” house, built in Taisho 10 (1921), has been renovated to create a comfortable living space.

Next to the accommodation are the storehouse and brewery of Onuma Shuzoten, the brewer of Miyagi’s famous sake "Ken-kon-ichi." The Murata Merchant Yamashou Memorial Museum (former Onuma residence), a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, is also nearby.

This accommodation is limited to one group per day, making it ideal for families.

[Facility Information]
“Machiya no Yado Tsuruyа” is a two-story traditional house accommodation. The layout is 2K. On the first floor, there is a dining kitchen, bath, toilet, and a living room that doubles as a bedroom. The second floor has a bedroom.

First Floor:

Dining Kitchen: Equipped with an IH stove (single burner), microwave, rice cooker, cooking utensils, and tableware for the number of guests. Please bring your own ingredients, seasonings, and cooking oil as these are not provided.

Please note that bringing hot plates or similar appliances is prohibited. Cooking should be done only in the kitchen, and please be considerate to avoid lingering smells or oil stains.

After use, please clean all cooking tools and dishes and return them to their original places. If you break any dishes, please inform the host.

Bedroom/Living Room (with air conditioning): Features two single beds, a four-person dining table, a two-person sofa, and a TV.

Bathroom: Features a bathtub with “Raku-yu” shoulder and waist massage jets to soothe your travel fatigue.

Toilet: Equipped with a warm-water bidet seat.

Second Floor:

Bedroom (with air conditioning): A traditional room with beautiful exposed beams, furnished with two double beds, a table, a sofa, and a TV.

Free Wi-Fi available.

Two sets of Japanese futons can be provided upon request. Please inform us at the time of reservation if you wish to use futons.

Accommodation Details:
“Machiya no Yado Tsuruyа” can accommodate up to 6 guests. Although it is a homestay-type accommodation where the owner lives on the property, guests can use almost the entire house privately without sharing living spaces with the host. The bath and toilet are exclusively for guests.

Meals are not included in the accommodation fee. Guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen or dine out. (Please bring your own food, seasonings, and cooking oil.)

Rates:
The rate is the same for up to 4 guests. For groups of 5 or more, an additional fee per person applies starting from the 5th guest.

Children’s Policy:
There is no special child rate. Children aged 2 and older are charged the adult rate and must be included in the reservation count. Children under 2 years old stay free but no bedding or towels are provided. If bedding is required for children under 2, please include them in the reservation.

Amenities:
Towels and toothbrushes are provided in the room upon arrival. Towels are provided at a rate of one per person for every two nights. Please do not take these towels with you.

Check-in:
Check-in is between 15:30 and 19:00.

No check-in outside these hours is accepted.

Please notify the host of your expected arrival time by phone after your reservation is confirmed. (The host’s phone number will be provided.)

Access:

By car or rental car: Approximately 15 minutes from Shiroishi IC or Murata IC on the Tohoku Expressway, and approximately 15 minutes from Miyagikawasaki IC on the Yamagata Expressway.

By taxi: About 30 minutes from Shinkansen Shiroishi-Zao Station; about 20 minutes from JR Tohoku Main Line Okawara Station.

By bus: About 34 minutes from Sendai Station. Take the Miyako Bus (formerly Sakura-no-mae stop No. 33, bound for Mercure Miyagi Zao Resort & Spa), get off at Murata Town Hall, then walk about 5 minutes.

Parking: One standard car parking space is available. Details will be given at check-in.
