About 30 minutes by car from Sendai Station. Murata-cho,
known as the "Little Kyoto of Miyagi in Michinoku", has long
flourished as a trading town on the highway linking Yamagata and Sendai. Staying in a samurai residence near the 'Kura-no-Machinami', which evokes the bustling atmosphere of those
days, is a valuable experience in itself.

[Guided tours]
(1) The Murata-cho Buke Yashiki uses a self check-in system. Details will be provided after the reservation is confirmed.

(ii) Unlike modern buildings, the Murata-cho Buke Yashiki has
low insulation and drafts, so you may feel cold in winter even
if you use the heating system (air-conditioning and oil fan heaters available) inside the house. Please be aware of this in
advance.

■About the Murata-cho Samurai Residence
The main house is a one-storey wooden structure with a
hipped thatched roof, but is currently covered with iron sheets.

The storehouse is a two-storey building with a gabled gable
roof with a pantile roofing, white plastered exterior walls and
clapboard clapboards on the ground floor. The main building is estimated to have been constructed in the late Edo period,
while the storehouse was built in 1925.

As the only remaining samurai residence under the Murata
Castle (Yakata), it is extremely valuable, and the Murata-cho
Samurai Residence (former Tayama Family Residence) was
designated as a cultural property by the town of Murata in
1994.

Fire is strictly prohibited and all rooms are non-smoking.

New water facilities have been provided, but many parts of the building are made of old wood and are fragile, so please take
care when handling them. Please note that the use of electrical appliances is prohibited.

We ask for your understanding and cooperation in order to
preserve our cultural heritage.

■Terms and conditions of accommodation
No meals are provided. Overnight stay with no meal plan.
Sleeps up to 9 people. The bedding is 1 double bed and 7
futons (for 9 persons).

*Bed rooms do not have air conditioning. Please note that they are not suitable for use during the summer months.

Meals can be taken outside at nearby restaurants or cooked in the on-site kitchen. A minimum of cooking utensils and crockery is provided. No condiments or ingredients are provided.
Please bring your own.

Linen and amenities
One face towel and one bath towel are provided per person,
regardless of the number of days.
If you would like additional towels, please let us know in a
message after booking is confirmed. We will be happy to
provide them for a fee.
Please note that one set of toothbrushes and other amenities
is provided per person, regardless of the number of days.
For stays of 6 nights or more, replacement sheets will be
provided and you are responsible for changing them yourself.

■ Access.
5 mins drive from Murata I.C. on Tohoku Expressway.
Approximately 40 minutes by highway bus from Sendai Station (2-minute walk from Murata Town Hall).

[Parking]
Free parking for 3 standard cars is available on site. No more
than three cars can be parked. On-street parking is strictly prohibited.

■Electric bicycle rental
Two electric bicycles are permanently available at the
Murata-cho Samurai Residence. Guests are free to use them.

(6)Allowing a third party other than the user to use the
bicycle.
(7) Use against public order and morals.
