Owashi Yaya Festival
http://owasejinja.net/owj/owj.html?pid=yahya
It is the common name of Owase Shrine's annual festival, and the origin of the name is that the warriors come forward during battles
It is said to be from "Yah-ya I am...". Originally, during the eight days of the Lunar New Year (January - 1-8), the rituals and festivals were
It was a busy festival but after several reforms, including the adoption of a new calendar after the Meiji era. Currently, the festival is shortened to five days, February 1-5.
However, in order to respect the continuation of the tradition of the festival, about 350 years ago (early Edo period)
The rituals and rituals formed in the three days shortened to the present day are still largely unchanged. One of the main features of this festival is the telling of the story. It is an annual festival in which men dressed in white clash violently in the narrow streets.
This is done to pray for a good catch and a good harvest.
The men violently parade through the town with the call of "Chosa-ja".
Rituals and spectacular daimyo processions and roadside dances in which children participate are also held.
The city comes alive during the festival.
On the 2nd to 4th, there is a fierce parade of young people in the three official towns.
Every night, diving naked into the sea to cleanse the body is a popular attraction. On the 5th, kagura and dancing are held, and in the evening, archery is dedicated. The festival is famous as a "strange festival in Japan, a strange festival under the sun", which is rare in Japan.
It has been designated as an intangible folk cultural asset of Mie Prefecture in 2002.
