Seijaku No Ie is a former weaving house, located at the end of an alley in Nishijin, north of the Daitokuji Temple. Built in 1922, 94 years ago, this old merchant house has been completely renovated and modernized in July 2014. It is now a beautiful one-story home with 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen with a central island and a dining room. The interior design is elegant and modern with dark wood furniture, but the house has kept the lovely antiquated atmosphere that makes it special.
Its location is perfect for tourism as you can reach Kamigamo Shrine and Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, in only 10 minutes by bicycle ! As a matter of fact both temples have been granted World Heritage status and are some of the main attractions in Kyoto.
It's also conveniently located 15 minutes away from Kitaōji subway station from which you can easily go to Kyoto station or to the Nijō Castle.
The neighbourhood is a pleasant place to live in with its old shopping street that have preserved the atmosphere of the Showa Period over the centuries, its friendly neighbours and its many bathhouses where you can enjoy a traditional Japanese bathing experience. For such an experience we recommend Murasakino Onsen and its open-air bath for a most enjoyable moment.
