Takasegawa Shichijo is a 115 years old traditional Kyoto house, which has been newly renovated. This traditional Kyoto house has kept the original construction with high airtightness and heat insulation performance. This type of construction is specially made to minimise the heat in summer and coolness in winter.
On the first floor there is a Japanese style bedroom and a sofa in the corridor which connects to the Japanese garden. At night, there will be a light up in the garden, so guests can spend a relaxing time sitting on the sofa while looking at the garden.
The Hinoki (Japanese cypress) bathroom has a bathtub made by towada stone. Guests can enjoy their bath time while looking at the beautiful garden.
On the second floor, there are 2 bedrooms. One with 2 single beds and one with 1 double bed. Especially with the single bedroom, it is in the specially built low ceiling. This was done because back in the days, people believe Japanese samurai shouldn’t be overlooked at, hence the houses are generally built in this way, so from the outside, it didn’t look like there is a second floor. Guests not only can enjoy the stay but also experience the history of Kyoto.
When there are more than 5 people, the Japanese style room on the first floor can be used as a bedroom with Japanese bedding Futon.
There is kitchen, kitchenware, washing machine and free wi-fi available.
Takasegawa Shichijo is different to an ordinary hotel, as you get to experience the traditional Kyoto house and as if you live in Japan.
It is about 14 minutes walk from JR Kyoto station (Taxi 590 yen). It is 4 minutes walk from Shichijo station (Keihan main line). It is close to various tourist attractions.
It can accommodates up to 6 people. It is great for family trips or small groups travel.
Children under 6 years old are free (up to 2 children)
It is definitely a great way to experience the real Kyoto life, please don’t miss out if you travelling to Japan!
