Attracts a lot of participants from all over Okinawa and the Amami Islands.
◇ Yoron Sango Festival (2nd Saturday and Sunday of August)
Biggest summer festival in Yoron Island. Fireworks, parades etc. are organized.
◇ Roughwater Swim in Yoron (late October)
Starts with 7 participants. Usually around 130 people join the event and party together when the race is over!
◇ Yoron Jugoya Dance (mid October)
Held on the 15th of March, August and October according to the lunar calendar.
During the “Harvest Moon” day (August 15), children go from door to door asking for rice cakes, like children do during Halloween.
Yoron Jugoya Dance is a national important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
◇ Yoron Pana Uru Walk (2nd Sunday of November)
There are 2 courses: the ”Yoron Island Marukajiri 1 week Course” and the “Family Half Course”. The event is organized by the Youth Department of the Chamber of Commerce of Yoron. Walk across Yoron Island (23km) while chatting with local people and enjoy a cultural exchange with members of the staff at the end of the walk.

Attended by students of Okinawa, Okinoerabu Island and Yoron Island.
