A down-to-earth and thoughtful life in an 200-year old Japanese house in the Nambu-Magariya style
Won’t you leave the bustle of daily life for a while, and spend some time with us enjoying the nature with your five senses?
■200-year old Japanese-style house■
The nostalgic unspoilt landscape of the past is still alive and well in Tono City in Iwate Prefecture. We moved from Sendai and operate a Farm Minshuku in a traditional Japanese house in the “Nambu-Magariya” style. A “Nambu-Magariya” is a Japanese house where the main house and the horse stable is connected in a “L” shape. It is a remnant of olden days in Tono when horses were used for work and were treated as valuable family members.
■Live each day with thoughtfulness and attention to detail■
Essentials for daily life are carefully repaired or made by hand. We enjoy a life where we spend extra time to do things by hand. A comfortable life begins by adding the “enjoyment” you can experience. Koya-Yauemon’s style is to approach all things thoughtfully and with an attention to detail, whether it be farming vegetables, cooking, or welcoming our guests.
■Enjoy a natural meal■
Behind the magariya-style house is a field where we grow a variety of vegetables such as goya and tomatoes, and fruit such as peaches and blackberries. We are proud of our hand-cooked meals which feature fresh, just-picked vegetables. We carefully present them on our favorite earthenware so that guest can fully enjoy their mealtime.
