Elite Farm (Kuji City Shorthorn cattle farm) (20 minutes by car)
In 1984, a public ranch with an area of 105.5 hectares was established in the highlands of Yamagata Town, at an altitude of 600 meters.
Shorthorn cattle are raised from the beginning of May to the end of October by the Natsuyama-Wu-ri method from about 40 livestock farmers.
The farm has about 120 head of cattle.
Only females and their calves under 11 years of age, who are recognized as good-looking, are allowed to enter the farm.

Hiraniwa Highland Azalea Festival (the first Saturday to the second Sunday in June each year)
The Hiraniwa Highlands are home to 310,000 white birch trees and renge azaleas flowers said to be the largest in Japan.
