The name of the inn, "Usuginu," is pronounced "Usuginu," and is the name of the area where this old house is located. In 2019, we renovated a 150-year-old traditional farmhouse inherited from our grandfather and opened the farmhouse experience guesthouse, Kominka Usuginu. The entire building can be rented exclusively by one group per day.
The inn is approximately a 25-minute drive from Ichinoseki Station. Overlooking the Ou Mountains in the distance, the Kitakami River flows below. Enjoy a relaxing stay in the tranquil surroundings with clear, open views and lush trees in the background.

● How to Spend Your Time at Usuginu Farmhouse
Usuginu is a place for relaxing. We hope you enjoy a relaxing stay in our spacious traditional house and surrounded by abundant nature. Behind the house is a former road, allowing you to stroll through the forest. At night, you can gaze upon a star-filled sky.
If you're staying at a farmhouse and would like to try some agricultural activities, please contact us. There is a rice field directly below the house. Depending on the season, you can experience activities such as plowing the soil with a hoe, planting rice by hand, weeding, harvesting rice with a sickle, and drying the rice. From summer to autumn, you can also enjoy a seasonal vegetable harvesting experience.
*If you are participating in a farming experience, please bring comfortable clothing, sneakers (preferably rubber boots), a sweat towel, and rain gear (raincoat).
◎About the Rooms
[Wooden Floor/Thatched Roof]
Entering the earthen-floored entrance, you'll find a large hearth between the spacious wooden floors. Sitting by the hearth and looking up at the high ceiling, you'll see that the house's roof was once thatched. We left the large space between the roof and the wooden floors intact, hoping to evoke the atmosphere of the house's original construction 150 years ago.
[Guest Rooms]
There are two Japanese-style rooms, one with 10 tatami mats and one with 12 tatami mats, all air-conditioned. Twelve futons are provided. Wake up pleasantly to the morning light filtering in through the shoji screens.
[Kitchen]
Meals are not provided at this inn. Guests are expected to cook their own meals. We provide a kitchen with an induction stove and a large countertop. We also provide standard cooking utensils and enough tableware for a stay of 12 people.
