DESCRIPTION

Experience farm life in the countryside
After retiring, I decided to stay at a farmhouse to enjoy relaxed country life and feel a sense of purpose in farming.

The farmhouse appeals to the richness and appeal of the food of Hanamaki in Iwate prefecture by using plenty of pesticide-free vegetables grown by the farmer himself.

While enjoying new encounters and discoveries through homestays, we will do our best to give many people a sense of Japan's homeland and to develop rich exchanges.

A variety of experiences are also available

Wonderful hosts and farm

While planning our trip to Japan, I found out that it was possible to stay in a farm. Prior to our stay here, we stayed in a place that advertised that they were a farm. They were not. This is a farm and the hosts are farmers. The hosts and the farm exceeded my expectations. The hosts were wonderful. Even though neither one of us spoke the others language, we communicated extensively with phone translation apps. My sole purpose in staying in a farm was to get to know Japanese people and that expectation was met with flying colors

Experience a different way of life

Rice is a big crop and we see all the fields but don't understand all that goes into it. Mr Harafuji explained a lot of the rice planting process to me. They have all the equipment on-site. He drove me around and showed the storage warehouse and water collection. I learned how to harvest rice manually and hang it to dry and also made the local kirisensho snack. Wonderful host family and we enjoyed meals picked from the garden, hot baths at night. It is amazing that Harafuji oojisan is 96yo!! He is more genki than people one-third his age. Mrs Harafuji brought me to her local dance class and I was able to take a short koto lesson from one of the ladies. A wonderful way to experience rural Japan.
