Just a 30-minute drive from the castle town, as you breathe in the fresh air of the Satoyama countryside surrounded by lush greenery, the hustle and bustle of the city will simply fade away.

About the Accommodation

■ Welcome to a Private Traditional House Deep in the Mountains
Located about 30 minutes by car from the Tamba-Sasayama castle town, this is a renovated 100-year-old farm stay in the Okumo district's Ofuji village.
Look for the massive roof that resembles Mt. Fuji. This is an owner-occupied style (with separate living spaces) limited to one group per day. It feels just like visiting a "friend's house" in Tamba-Sasayama.
■ A Space Wrapped in the Warmth of a Traditional Folk House
The bedroom is a Japanese-style room with tatami mats (approx. 13 sqm), equipped with 2 beds plus extra futons. From the "Engawa" (veranda), you can enjoy the peaceful Satoyama scenery.
The house features a traditional dirt floor entrance (Doma), an Izakaya-style dining area, and a working record player, creating an atmospheric space unique to old houses.
The bathroom and toilet are separate Western-style facilities for your comfort.
■ Outdoor Deck & BBQ Space
On the spacious outdoor deck, you can enjoy a Gibier BBQ in the summer or relax with a coffee while soaking in the countryside air.

The kitchen is not available for guest use (staff will heat meals for you).
As this is an old traditional house, there may be insects, and it is very cold in winter. Please enjoy a stay that is close to nature.

The meals at Umetan FUJI feature premium gibier sourced directly from local hunters. The owner has refined an original menu to ensure guests are fully satisfied with "Sasayama Gourmet." The inn is also popular for serving local Tamba-Sasayama craft beer on tap.
Draft craft beer, Japanese sake, and Tamba wine are also available.
The stay plan includes 3 drinks; please enjoy them with your meal.
■ Spring – Autumn (May – October): Gibier BBQ on the Private Terrace
Enjoy venison, wild boar, local chicken, and seasonal Sasayama vegetables grilled boldly over charcoal. A premium course featuring local Wagyu beef (equivalent to Kobe Beef) is also available. (In case of rain, charcoal grilling will be moved to the living room.)
■ Winter (November – April): Izakaya-style Wild Boar Hotpot (Botan Nabe)
The "Sumashi Botan Nabe," where wild boar meat is cooked in a light dashi broth, is a Umetan FUJI original. You can also choose Local Chicken Yose-nabe, or Hyogo Wagyu Sukiyaki/Shabu-shabu.

■ Sea of Clouds & Sunrise Early Morning Hiking Tour 【Mid-Nov to Early Dec only】
You can see a magnificent sea of clouds from the summit of Mt. Taki, which is about a 30-minute hike one way. While it depends on the weather, witnessing the sunrise and the mist provides incredible energy.

At Umetan FUJI, you can experience things impossible in the city.

■ Ofuji Village: Where Rural Life Remains
A 30-minute drive from the castle town, Umetan FUJI is located in a nostalgic corner of the Ofuji village in the Okumo district. This quiet hamlet has only a few residents, surrounded by mountains and rice paddies with almost no traffic. Experience the seasons: fireflies in early summer, and crickets or mayflies in autumn.
■ 30 Minutes by Car to Sasayama City
The Sasayama Castle Town is a Japan Heritage site with streetscapes remaining from the Edo period. Umetan can provide recommendations for sightseeing and experiences unique to Tamba-Sasayama, such as pottery villages and forest restaurants.
• Tamba Black Edamame Harvesting
The "Phantom Edamame" of Tamba-Sasayama is famous. Harvesting them during their short season in October is a special travel memory.
• Tamba-yaki Pottery Village (Konda District)
One of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. You can visit various kilns or try your hand at pottery.
