Gyohou is the prototype of a Mokugyo. It is a wooden board in the shape of a fish with a ball in its mouth, and is struck at meals in Zen temples. The ball represents earthly desires. It is said to be meant to encourage one to work hard at their training, just like a fish that never sleeps and keeps swimming. Enjoy the LOHAS lifestyle of letting go of material attachments, or "everyday luxury," along with Japanese cuisine, which has been registered as a World Cultural Heritage.
