This unique lodging facility, born from the repurposing of a closed elementary school, is surrounded by rich natural beauty.
Please relax and unwind in our rooms, which carry a touch of nostalgia.
▶︎A Learning House Where You Can Play, Learn, and Stay
Yakumo Town, where the scent of cattle rides on the wind.
In 2021, a renovated mountain-top schoolhouse became Pecorella Gakusha—a place to play, learn, and stay.
“Peko” means cow in the Ainu language, and “Rera” means wind.
Dairy farming is the town's main industry, and this school's location is dairy country.
The name comes from the wind carrying the scent of cows.
▶︎ Environmentally Conscious Facility Design
The school building was repurposed into a lodging facility and coworking space for work and interaction, while the grounds were revitalized as a campsite.
Initiatives like using recycled materials and discarded items for DIY projects, and choosing eco-friendly products for consumables, encourage sustainability awareness among facility users.
▶︎The Pecorella School Community
The people building Pecorella School together = Pecorers.
Pecorella School was created by the hands of diverse individuals from within and outside Yakumo Town who embraced the project's concept.
We invite you to spend time learning, connecting, and enjoying memorable experiences at Pecorella School, completed through the collaboration of people from Japan and abroad.
▶︎Interaction with Staff and Guests is a Highlight
The keyword for Pecorella Schoolhouse is “Interaction.”
Our staff consists mostly of migrants rather than locals, with diverse backgrounds and origins.
The charm lies in those unique, once-in-a-lifetime encounters with such staff, fellow guests, or Pecorers who happen to be there.

Pecorella Schoolhouse offers many ways to enjoy yourselves: BBQ, sauna, bug catching, outdoor play, ball games, reading, river fishing, and more! Inside the school building, we provide ping pong tables, toys, and more. Bring your children and enjoy quality family time together.
