DESCRIPTION

Now (until August 31, 2025), the optional lumberjack experience (introductory level) or (intermediate level) is free!

About the Inn
This inn is a traditional tin-thatched roof house built in 1930 that was renovated in 2024 to become a rental experience-based lodge. Ota's grandfather lived in the house until a few years ago, but it became vacant due to the family's absence. I named the lodge "Otaya," a lumberjack experience lodge, out of a desire to preserve at least the name and, as I myself work in forestry, to help people learn a little about forestry.

Guests can make a fire with their own split firewood, boil the hot water needed for the lodge (a wood-fired boiler is required), boil the Goemon bath, and enjoy rice cooked in a kamado (traditional Japanese hearth). The lodge also offers facilities such as an induction cooktop, making self-catering convenient.
*Price includes
Accommodation, firewood, charcoal, and 1 cup (1800g) of Oasa-grown rice per person.

Optional activities include nature experiences, charcoal-making, chainsaw practice, and BBQs using charcoal you make yourself.

*Note: Weekday and 2nd and 4th Saturdays and Sundays are limited to guests who are able to make their own firewood. (Hot water required at the inn must be heated by guests using a wood-fired boiler.)
For guests staying on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays, or during long weekends that include public holidays, a lumberjack instructor will provide a free lesson on how to make a fire, cook delicious rice in a kado (stovetop), and safely chop firewood. Please contact us if you would like this information. For other important notes, please be sure to read the "Property and Terms and Conditions Restrictions" section.
