This is a small inn located at the back of a mountain in the north of Hiroshima prefecture.
It is surrounded by nature, where you may not get mobile phone reception and meals can be cooked yourself in an iron pot. You can immerse yourself in the nature and escape from the busy cities. It is like visiting your relatives, who are living in the countryside and it is an alternatively lodging, where you can experience the real Japanese local life.

In spring, you can hand pick the vegetable from the mountain and cook your own dishes.
In summer, you can go fishing and vegetable harvest.
In Autumn, you can pick mushroom and enjoy the gorgeous maple leaves.
in Winter, you can play with the snow or enjoy the warm “Japanese Kotatsu” (a table with heater underneath).

When the schedule allows, you can experience rice planting, grass cutting, rice harvesting and rice cultivation.
*During weekends, only limited to 1 group of guest.

We live here everyday and you may think our daily life looks kind of inconvenient as we prepare our meals with traditional rice kettle instead of gas; we heat our bath water with wood and fire instead of electric water heater; we use wood stove in winter instead of electric heater.
These are the best of part staying in this traditional and cosy house.

It is probably a great chance to review the convenience we take it for grant in the everyday living.

【About meals】

At Kurashi-Jyuku Ofuru, we will be preparing the meals together using the Japanese wood stove. We will prepare 1 soup with 3 dishes.

To cook meals with fire, you need to coordinate your breath and the fire to control the heat.

All the meals will be cooked by burning the wood we got from the mountain and the the energy will be transfer to the food, which make the dishes more delicious.

A week before the guest check-in, we will contact the guest to discuss the menu.
We would like to use the vegetable, which is in season to prepare the dishes.

All the ingredients, seasoning, kitchenware and cutleries will be prepared by us.

All the ingredients are organic, pesticide-free. Fish are from the river near our house.

Please let us know if you have any allergies and dietary requirements.

【About toilet】

We use a Japanese style toilet in Kurashi-Jyuku Ofuru, called ‘kumitori benjo’. It is the sanitation system, which was used in olden days.

We know there may be some people, who think it’s a hurdle to have the toilet outside.
However, we prefer to leave it as it used be.

We believe it’s a good way to return the night soil back to the nature and it’s our responsibility. It is also a great way to fertilize the crops.

This is something we value and think it’s important to maintain.

※For little children, we will have chamber pot prepared in the room.

FYI, our children have started using ‘kumitori benjo’ since 3 years old.
