About "Kojimaya Ryokan
The view of Mount Myogi is recognized as one of the three most beautiful sights in Japan along with the serene sounds of the "Usui River" flowing along the old Nakasendo.
The Isobe Hot Spring is located in the poetically rich area of Annaka, Joshu. Isobe Onsen is a 100% natural hot spring with a rich source.
It is also the birthplace of the familiar onsen symbol (♨).
This symbol was already written on a drawing in 1661 as a symbol to indicate Isobe Onsen.
The recognition of "Isobe" as a hot spring was widespread among the people.
And since the eruption of Mount Asama in 1783, the amount of hot spring water that gushed out has increased even more.
In the Edo period (1603-1868), it was used as a hot spring resort for travelers and vendors passing through on the Nakasendo highway.
In the Meiji and Taisho eras, it was used as a vacation home by politicians, businessmen, and literary figures, and flourished as a place for therapeutic baths for the treatment of illnesses from all over Japan.
Our hotel, Kojimaya Ryokan, founded in 1879, was originally designed for long-term hot spring recuperation while cooking for oneself.
Today, the guest house is used by a wide range of guests for many purposes, including solo travelers, golfers, business travelers, and families.
It is an onsen ryokan with a relaxed atmosphere.
Points of pride at Kojimaya Ryokan
1) Enjoy 100% natural hot spring water from the source!
The first and foremost thing about Isobe Onsen is the quality of its water. We draw our water directly from the source and let it flow freely so that you can enjoy a luxurious bath.
There are two springs, one of which is an old mine that is now used as an ingredient for the hot spring specialty "Isobe senbei" (rice crackers).
The other is a new mineral spring that gushed forth in 1996. The new mineral spring is mainly used for bathing at Isobe Onsen.
Because it is a source spring, the ingredients are dense and easily permeate the body, making it a highly effective type.
The water is soft and gentle on the body.
During your stay, please take care of your physical condition, rehydrate yourself, and enjoy the hot spring water while resting. It is also a good idea to take a stroll to the hot spring town for a change of scenery.
2) Experience the good old days at a retro ryokan with Taisho romanticism!
After the Meiji Restoration, the government's policy of westernization under the slogan of "civilization opening" quickly spread throughout Japan.
In Gunma Prefecture, many highly artistic brick buildings were built, embodying the craftsmanship and splendor of modern Western architecture.
Our building was renovated in the late Taisho and early Showa eras using the same scratch bricks as the Gunma Prefectural Office.
The pale green painted brick building with wooden frame arched windows still stands today.
The interior fittings have also become more beautiful with age, creating a space with a Taisho-roman feel. It is also popular among those who love old houses.
