●Concept of -KAYA-
A timeless stay in a historic storehouse with the soothing sound of a stream
This over-120-year-old kura (traditional Japanese storehouse) features thick earthen walls outside and wooden interiors, supported by large beams and beautifully curved structures.
It was once used to store essential preserved foods such as miso, soy sauce, rice, and pickles, as well as household items like chests and lacquerware.
KAYA is a fully private rental accommodation created by renovating this historic kura.
The name KAYA comes from Mount Kayasan, the sacred guardian mountain behind Narayama Village.
As the original name is gradually being forgotten, it was chosen to preserve and pass on the memory of the past into the future.
The house features an open-ceiling kitchen on the first floor, along with a living room, bathroom, washroom, and toilet, while the second floor serves as the bedroom.
Listen to the gentle stream flowing just behind the kura and spend a peaceful night immersed in timeless tranquility.
