Property Features.
Once you step inside, it is quite dimly lit, but as your eyes adjust, you will see the earthen floor, the aged wooden entrance, walls, and sliding doors. It is like stepping back in time to the world of an old tale.
The house was built in the 19th century (late Edo to early Meiji periods) and is designated as a "Fukui traditional private house" by Fukui Prefecture. It was renovated in 2007 to be used as a base for green tourism by the "Sakaguchi Area Urara no Machizukuri Shinkai" and the "Sakaguchi Green Tourism Study Group," which are working on environmental conservation and local revitalization in the Sakaguchi area of Echizen City. It opened in 2012.
The name "AOIIE" was given by a former resident whose hobby was painting, and it has been passed on to the next generation, including his wishes.
It is operated not only as a farmhouse guest house, but also as a center for communication of satoyama culture through events such as concerts and exchanges with visitors from the city and events that take advantage of the unique atmosphere of the old private house.
The area is surrounded by rich satoyama. The area is also a field for Echizen City's "Creating a village where storks dance" project, and visitors can see the traditional rural landscape of the area. The area was selected as a "model area for satochi satoyama conservation and regeneration" in 2004. It is likely to be used in various ways.
The interior design is very special.
The house is an old private house built nearly 200 years ago. The house has a high ceilinged earthen floor, an entrance hall, and boarded-up rooms with thick beams and pillars with a shiny black color and a profound atmosphere. A piano is placed in the living room, which is boarded up on the front side, making it a perfect space for holding concerts and other events.
We welcome everyone like this!

Experience, etc.
Visitors can experience walking along an old road from the Warring States Period (with a guide), gathering wild vegetables, and farming in rice fields and fields.
Echizen City was a traffic fortress during the medieval period, with many roads such as the Hokuriku Expressway running through the area. The area also retains an old road called Bazen Kaido, which has been well received as a place to get in touch with history.
Meals
We recommend cooking your own meals using fresh local vegetables and seafood from the Sea of Japan. The kitchen is equipped with a set of self-cooking utensils. If requested, the inn will also provide foodstuffs (for a fee).
If you wish to have a meal, we will deliver country cooking prepared with care by the mothers of the local production for local consumption group "Sakanokuchi Kobo" using ingredients from the local satoyama.
