集落は車が入れない勾配のある細道がたくさんあり、まるで迷路のようでワクワクする。
ホストさんが男木島の町並み保存活動をされていて、一緒に散策をしながら傾斜が多い土地に適した石垣と家の構造について分かりやすく話してくれたり、誰もが集えるように作っている
広場にも案内してくれ、井戸水をバケツですくったり、キンカンの実をもいでそのまま食べたりもした。
また野草や薬草の知識を伝える学校も運営されていて、夕食も朝食も地元で採れた山野草やお魚中心の新鮮で盛り付け方のセンスも素晴らしく、味付けもとても美味しいものばかりだった。
体験活動では、豆腐作り、よもぎ団子づくり、ゲンコツ飴づくりをし、家に帰ってからできることばかりで我が家でも引き継いでいきたいと思った。

The main house is 106 years old, and the detachment is about 70 years old.

In winter, on windy days, there is a loud noise, and in summer, there is choking heat. There are all the things necessary for daily life, such as fans, mosquito nets, and wood stoves.
The toilet and bath are external. The bath is a wood-burning bath, which warms the body from the core.
