About the Guesthouse!
It opened in the fall of 2020 in the small mountain town of Kurokawa, Shirakawa-cho, Kamo-gun, Gifu Prefecture.
It is an old one-story house with a large entrance and a stylish white curtain. Although it is an old house, the interior has been remodeled in a modern style.
The interior is bright and clean, based on white wood and white wallpaper, so you will feel very comfortable.
There are two Western-style rooms.
The walls are decorated with Kurokawa-themed artworks by artists living in the neighborhood.
Each room has two beds, but there is also a spare futon, so each room can accommodate up to four people.
There are many flexible menus to choose from, and we will do our best to meet your expectations.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available for working vacation and remote meetings.
We also have a library of 5,000 books for you to browse through.
We also have a Finnish tent sauna as an option, so you can detox your body.
Location:
Kurokawa, Shirakawa-Cho is a highland area at an altitude of 400 meters and is rich while being surrounded by 1000m mountains on all sides.
The blue of the summer sky is deep and beautiful only in this region where the air is clean. This clean air, the temperature difference between day and night, the foggy humidity, and the sunshine in the mountains are all essential conditions for the production of high-quality tea.
This is where Shirakawa tea, one of the best teas in Japan, is produced.
The quarrying of manganese stone, rich in minerals, is the only production area of its kind in Japan.
The town's representative buildings include a former pipe organ workshop and a traditional local kabuki culture.
The Higashi-za, a local kabuki theater, has been inherited and nurtured by the community. Built-in 1889, Higashi-za is still owned by the late Nakamura Kanzaburo as its first owner and Nakamura Kanku as its second owner. It is a valuable active cultural heritage that conveys Japan's local Kabuki culture.
Also, agriculture, forestry, and livestock industries are flourishing due to the blessed climate.
The area is also known for the cultivation of shiitake mushrooms and the raising of "drug-free Anshin Pigs" as a new experiment. Organic farming is also being conducted.
As you can see, Kurokawa is an attractive area where people carefully watch over and nurture the old things, but are also not afraid to tackle new challenges.
