A journey of Shikoku Pilgrimage is a multi-site pilgrimage of 88 temples.
Byodo Temple is located in Aratonocho in Ana city, Tokushima Prefecture. Byodo Temple was established by Koboudaishi (Saint Kobo) in 814 (Konin era 5 year). Byodo Temple has also been known as the Bonze’s Home because it is the 22nd temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage and many pilgrims would come there for a rest during their pilgrimage.
You can see the Nio Guardians statues at the temple gates, seasonal flowers blooming in the garden and the colourful painting on the ceiling of the main temple. There is also a well built with stones, they say that the well water can heal any kind of diseases and sores.
The guests will be staying in the priest’s drawing room with Japanese style tatami floor. The room has been renovated recently, which provides a simple and clean space for the guests. Wifi is also included for free of charge.
During your stay you can experience activities such as, morning scripture reading, meditation and sutra copying. It is going to be a one and only experience!
